How would you like to take part in the world’s largest fundraising event for childhood cancer research? On behalf of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, I am writing to seek your participation in an event that could save a child’s life. What began as a challenge among friends has grown into the world’s largest fundraising event for childhood cancer.

Because these youngsters typically undergo treatment that causes their hair to fall out, volunteers are recruited to shave their heads in public as a bold act of solidarity. These volunteers receive pledges of financial support from their friends and family. In turn, their generous donations help fund life-saving childhood cancer research.

Since its inception in 2000, St. Baldrick’s has raised more than $87 million for the cause! This is my fifth year as event organizer. Last year, our event raised over $82,000 helped in large part by the Caldwell Jr Chiefs and West Essex Cowboys Football teams and the Caldwell U14 Hurricanes Soccer Club. This year, we are hoping to recruit these and other area teams to once again take part in this worthy cause.

The Caldwell-West Caldwell Soccer Club would like to invite you and your child to participate in its Introductory Soccer Clinic to be held Fall 2010 and Spring 2011. This exciting program is designed for children ages Pre-K (eligible to attend Kindergarten, Fall 2011), Kindergarten (Fall 2010), and First Grade (Fall 2010). The goals at this early level are fun, learning, group play and involvement. Parents are encouraged to participate! We need volunteer coaches and other assistants to make this program successful. Prior soccer experience is not necessary. A safety orientation and professional training session will be provided for all of the volunteer coaches.

The clinic provides an introductory environment designed to involve your children in the most popular sport in the world. Soccer is a great beginning sport for boys and girls. It requires little to no previous skill and offers a perfect energy outlet and fitness vehicle for children. Last year’s clinic hosted over 285 children and 60 parents! A total of ten games will be played on Saturday mornings: five games starting in September and five games starting in April. Professional trainers will be onsite to assist the coaches and players. Teams and schedules will be determined after registration. Players will be notified by their team coach prior to the start of the Fall and Spring sessions respectively. Please note: team uniforms will be handed out at the first game in the Fall. Shin guards are required equipment.

Below is the Fall 2010 / Spring 2011 CWC Travel Soccer team rosters. Thank you for all who had come out and participated in the try outs. Registration will be held on Monday, June 28th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at GCMS.

the June Soccer Club meeting will be rescheduled for later this month to allow members to focus on tryouts. The new date will be posted once established.

The Soccer Club is proud to announce the 2010 Summer Soccer Camp for boys and girls ages 6 through 18. The camp will run from July 12th to 16th at the James Caldwell HS fields and gym. All participants must complete the form included in the below flier by June 25th.

2010-2011 CWC TRAVEL SOCCER CLUB TRYOUT DATES

The Caldwell/West Caldwell Soccer Club tryouts for the Fall 2010/ Spring 2011 Season will be held @ EVS FIELD on the corner of Clinton road & Henderson Drive in West Caldwell on the above listed dates. Grade levels are the grade your child will be entering this Sept 2010.
